Simulcra & Hyperreality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU7GoCKSQfg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg Both of these videos are essentially the same narrative, based on hyper real standards of a "destructive" relationship. Based in a "real" setting, it blurs the idea of a real world overlapping into a hyperreal world. It could be argued that Rihanna references the first video or "stole" the idea, but just made it more popular, because Rihanna (a hyperreal person who gains popularity because she is what people aspire to be) is more hyperreal.
Hybridity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsUsVbTj2AY Suit and Tie by Justin Timberlake. RnB/pop song but the video is a old classic style video - black and white, almost Bond style.
Bricolage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avbNOjCOHJE Have A Dream by Will.i.am feat. Martin Luther King, for the Freedom Writers film soundtrack. Using audio from Luther King remixing it into a new song, for a new audience and a film from 2007, set in 1993.
Kitsch Culture - nothing is bad anymore. Its so bad its good. style over substance - its looks not brains (Holister) joe ;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5NRWM3FgqA
Simulcra & Hyperreality: We cant trust what we see is real because we dont know whether it has been photoshopped, colour corrected, auto tuned or had effects put on it. Photoshopping photos makes the audience vulnerable as the audience can believe the beauty adverts (mascara adverts) they will buy into it, and think they can get the same lashes. Increase in CGI, makes films more hyper real. Celebrites are hyper real, and we all at some point wish or aspie to be famous - so we all want to be hyper real ourselves. http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01590/Nicki-Minaj_620_1590185a.jpg
